STATED MEETING DATES/TIMES/CURRENT ACTIVITIES
For Angola Lodge #236 stated meetings the meal starts around 6:30. Meeting time is 7:30 PM (not 7:00 PM).
Angola Lodge completed the FC degreeon two candidates in January. The date for the Master Mason is anticipated for the second or third Tuesday in March. To be determined.
HOLD DATE FOR MEET AND GREET - WEDNESDAY, MARCH 15, 2017
The date for the next "Meet and Greet" is set for Wednesday March 15, 2017. Hold the date in your calendar. Plan to bring some non-Masons so they can hear and see what a fine organization Masons' are. This membership event will help grow your Lodge or appendant Masonic group once exposed to the "happenings" that each group carries out. We have over 60 people attend and the results are very beneficial.
Bringing in new Masons into our fraternity has been an ongoing challenge. This is a great opportunity for YOU to assist by bringing in a new member. If you cannot attend, still invite them. But...give us notification of the name of the person so we have someone meet them at the door.
To help us plan, if your Lodge will be attending, send an approximate number to the Co-Chairmen of the event: Bill Bryan 316-6904 or Paul Friend 402-6122.
ANGOLA YORK RITE TO MEET
Angola York Rite next stated meeting will be Thursday, February 2, at the Angola Masonic Lodge building. The Council Officers will be opening and closing the meeting, with Brant Moore, Illustrious Master presiding and serving a meal prior to the meeting. The meal is at 6:15 PM with the meeting starting at 7:00 PM.
ANGOLA HOSTED GRAND MASTER YORK RITE CLASS FOR CAREY CARTER
22 candidates from throughout Indiana joined York Rite last Saturday in Angola. Congratulations to Jay Minick, Jim Ernsbeuger, Aaron Wade and Dane Brandgard for joining Angola York Rite. The remaining new members came from many corners of Indiana.
A special feature of the day was Levant Preceptory, which were Sir Knights dressed in period out fits of the Knights Templar from the 1100 to 1300 AD period of the Crusades. They wore medal helmets, chainmaill, uniforms carrying the red Maltese Cross and they carried large broadswords. They casted the Order of the Temple.
The class honored Carey Carter, a Knight Templar from Ft. Wayne, who is the Grand Master of Grand Lodge of Indiana. Carey made comments at the conclusion of the work. Also present was Duane Vaught, Grand Master of the Grand Encampment Knights Templar of the United States of America. Also present were the Grand Heads of the Grand Chapter, Grand Council and Grand Commandery of Indiana and other distinguished guests. Angola continues to be one of the most supportive York Rites in Indiana as they are looked upon to host such statewide events. Over 80 people attended this event.
YORK RITE TRI-STATE FESTIVAL - ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY TO JOIN YORK RITE
Angola York Rite (as well as any other York Rite body in Indiana) will be part of the Indiana, Ohio and Michigan membership class on Saturdays February 25 and March 4. The first weekend of the work will be held in Jackson, Michigan and the second week in Bryan Ohio. In 2018, Angola will again host one of the weekends. This York Rite event has taken place annually for over 40 years and is one of the main ways one can join.
Yes another opportunity to join York Rite. If you are interested in understanding the lessons taught in the Blue Lodge of Masonry, York Rite is the appendant body to join. Call if interested.
