NORTHEAST INDIANA MASONIC NEWS AND EVENTS
Joint Degree Work Held – Angola 236 and Forest 239
The Master Mason Degree for Brothers Kevin Stark (Forest #239) and John Dermott (Angola #236) was held Wednesday, August 18th at 7:00 pm at Angola Lodge. There was a dinner before at 6:00 pm .
Brother Tom Smith (PM), Forest Lodge# 239 was Worshipful Master for the 1st half and Brother David Kandel (PM), Forest Lodge #239 was King Solomon for the 2nd half. Members of Angola Lodge #236, Star #225 and Northeastern #210 filled in the other required officers in the degree work.

Angola Member Awarded Rookie Plaque and Pin
Timothy Billow of Angola Masonic Lodge #236 was awarded for his activity in the Indiana Rookie Award Program, which is from Indiana Grand Lodge.
Once a person is raised a Master Mason, they may participate in a series of activities as degree work, attend stated meetings, serving on an investigating committee, attend a Memorial Service for a fallen brother, etc. There is a list of 10 activities and when completed the Grand Lodge will recognize the member.
Upon completing the activities, the Worshipful Master and Secretary turn in a form and the Grand Lodge will send the award.
FOR RECENT NEW MASTER MASONS: Inform your local officers of your interest and they can show you the requirements. It’s a great award and helps one to become active in your Lodge.

Did you see the 2020 Membership Stats on page 8?? Angola Lodge#236 was recognized as one of 24 Lodges that raised 5 or more Master Masons last year. This shows the great work the Angola Officers are undertaking. CONGRATULATIONS.

NORTHEASTERN LODGE #210 (Fremont)
The Lodge continues its’ Monday morning coffee and donuts at the Fremont Lodge. They will continue to meet throughout the summer. Meet around 8:00 AM for fellowship and leave when necessary.
STAR LODGE #225 (Orland)
The Officers of Star Lodge invites Masons to attend a function at their Lodge to see the new carpet and new officer and sideline wooden seats that were received from the Odd Fellows Lodge There is a new “look” in their Lodge room.
NORTHEAST INDIANA SOUJOURNER’S DESIRES TO CHARTER A NEW CHAPTER OF MASONIC VETERANS
Masonic Brethren in Ft. Wayne and Warsaw are looking into starting a National Sojourner’s Chapter for Northeast Indiana. This group does not have to assign a Lodge as its sponsor. The plans are to organize a group in our part of the State, with the location of meetings/activities rotating to various sites. The planned events will be held at a restaurant, Masonic Lodges, VFW, American Legion Posts, etc.

ANGOLA YORK RITE STATED MEETING
ANGOLA YORK RITE
The Angola York Rite next scheduled stated meeting is on Thursday, September 2nd York Rite will open on the Order of the Commandery – officers should be present It is a practice for the October 16 Commandery inspection.
There will be a meal at 6:15 PM, followed by the 7:00 PM stated meeting.
Three candidates from Angola York Rite have completed the first 8 of the required York Rite degrees. This includes Mason Gipson, Charlie Chapman and Bob Vernon III. They will be completing their Order of the Temple in October. The work for these three members are planned to be finished by October 16, 2021.
APOLLO COMMANDERY #19
The York Rite bodies of Auburn Indiana also have candidates going through the York Rite Degrees/Orders. It is the plan to finish all their candidates separately or in connection with the members of Angola York Rite. The exact dates for the work of the Auburn members is in the planning stage.
POKAGON COUNCIL #147 AMD
The last meeting/meal was held on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 in Ft. Wayne. Wednesday, September 29 will be the next meeting. It will be held at the Masonic Lodge in Warsaw.
ANGOLA YEOMEN OF YORK PRECEPTORY #2
The next meeting will be the Angola Yeomen of York Annual Meeting, scheduled for Saturday, October 16 in the morning at the Angola Moose Lodge. At that meeting will be the Annual Meeting, election of Officers, induction of new members and initial planning for the 2022 York Rite Festival. Angola Commandery #45 will hold their Annual Inspection on the afternoon of October 16 at the Angola Masonic Lodge.
The Annual Meeting of the Indiana Grand Preceptory Yeomen of York was held on Saturday, June 16. The Grand Officers for 2021-22 are: Bobby Roberts, Grand Director General; Jack Sandler, Deputy Grand Director General; Mike Anderson, Grand Sec/Tres; Bruce Frazer, Grand Master of Ceremonies; Phil Whisner, Grand Chaplain; Lloyd Atterson, Grand Adjutant General; and Paul Friend, Grand Recorder. Our prayers are with Lloyd Atterson, who recently was involved in a fall and is recovering from injuries.
Currently Mike Anderson and Paul Friend of Angola York Rite and Angola Yeomen Preceptory #2 serve as Grand Line Officers as described above.
Bobby Roberts also is a member of Angola Yeomen Preceptory #2.
The 2021 presiding officers in the east for Angola York Rite are:
- High Priest of Angola Chapter #58 is Jay Minick.
- Illustrious Master of Angola Council #27 is Dan Ernsberger.
- Eminent Commander of Angola Commandery #45 is Brant Moore.
- The Secretary/Recorder for all three bodies is Jimmie Milleman.

ANNUAL BEAN DINNER ON TUESDAY, OCTOBER 26
The annual BEAN DINNER will be held on Tuesday, October 26. Meal will be served at 6:30 PM at the Mizpah Shrine Temple.
Who is invited? All current members AND those who would like to learn more about Scottish Rite. There is no cost for the meal to you. There will be a lot of fun, food and fellowship and your chance to learn how the Scottish Rite organization operates. Call Paul Friend for a ride.

The Scottish Rite will be starting a new series of degrees. To be an official member one needs to take some prerequisite degrees and conclude with the 32nd degree. November 13, 2021 will be the next reunion. They will show the 4th, 15th, 29th and 31st digitally. The Valley members will present the 9th, 11th or 21st, 28th and 332nd degrees. SILENT AUCTION/WINE TASTING DATE SET FOR OCTOBER 9
Keep Saturday October 9 open for this annual event – it will be held on at Ceruti’s Summit Park, located at 6601 Innovation Blvd, Ft. Wayne. Cost to attend is $40 per person. Taste lots of different wines, some food to nibble on and the opportunity to purchase something from the Silent Auction. There WILL be some items of interest for you to bid. FT WAYNE VALLEY WANTS TO START UP A STEUBEN COUNTY SCOTTISH RITE CLUB – ARE YOU INTERESTED?
This is usually a noon meal/meeting, with all county Scottish Rite members invited to attend. The time and location will depend on the organizers. The Steuben County Club disbanded about 5 years ago.
Usually a couple Valley Officers would attend to update those attending. To make this happen we need two or three local members to help coordinate. Who is interested in starting up the County Club?
SOVEREIGN GRAND COMMANDER OF NORTHERN MASONIC
JURISDICTION David A. Glattly, will be visiting Indiana during the first full week of October 2021.
He will be present as the Ft. Wayne Valley puts on the 20th Degree, Master ad Vitam, at the “OLD FORT” in Ft. Wayne on October 4, 2021. This is about George Washington and the treason of Benedict Arnold. It is a lesson on disloyalty. The evening will include a “Hog Roast” starting at 5:45 PM, with the degree to follow. There is no cost for the meal, BUT AN RSVP IS NEEDED FOR A MEAL COUNT
The SGC will also be in Ft. Wayne on Saturday, October 9 for the annual wine tasting/silent auction. You will not want to miss this.

MIZPAH SHRINE IS MEETING MONTHLY AGAIN
The Pokagon Shrine Club will have a stated meeting on Wednesday, September 15 at Glendarin Golf Course in Angola. You can order from the menu starting around 6:00 PM, with the meeting starting at 7:00 PM. The Club is looking to continue meeting on the third Wednesday of each month.

Yes, Pokagon Shrine Club will have a $500 meat raffle for 2021. The tickets are printed and have been distributed for members to sell. Our Club was not able to be in a meat raffle last year. It is important for members to support this project as it is the way we raise money to support our local projects.
